Farm Boy L’Ancetre Life Smart Cheese is being recalled in Canada for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of these cheeses. The recalling firm is Fromagerie L’Ancêtre Inc.

The recalled Farm Boy products include Organic Swiss Cheese packaged in 190 gram plastic containers. The UPC number is 8 08912 02276 5, the best by date is July 30, 2027 and the code is 243E. Also recalled is Organic Medium Cheddar Cheese in 200 gram containers, with UPC number 8 08912 02279 6, best by date July 30, 2027, and code 811D. Organic Old Cheddar is included, packaged in 200 gram containers with UPC number 8 08912 02278 9, best by date July 30, 2027, and code 562D. Organic Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese is recalled, packaged in 200 gram containers with UPC number 8 08912 01237 7, best by date July 30, 2027, and code G6D, as is Organic 3 Year Old Cheddar Cheese, packaged in 195 gram containers with best by date July 30, 2027 and code 392Z.
The L’Ancêtre brand recalled cheeses include Organic Swiss Cheese in 200 gram containers, with UPC number 7 78177 49960 5, best by date July 30, 2027, and code 243E. Also recalled is Organic Cheddar Cheese – Shredded Old, packaged in 2 kilogram containers with UPC number 7 78177 82933 4, best by date December 4, 2026, and code S146E. Organic Mozzarella- Cheddar Shredded Cheese Blend is included, in 200 gram containers with UPC number 7 78177 49950 6, and best by dates December 11, 2026 and January 17, 2027. The code is S150E. Organic Mozzarella Cheese – Shredded Partially Skimmed is also recalled, packaged in 1 kilogram containers, with UPC number 7 78177 82938 9, best by date December 25, 2026, and code S161E. Organic Swiss Cheese – Shredded is also recalled. It is packaged in 1 kilogram containers, with UPC number 7 78177 82960 0, best by date December 25, 2026, and code S164E. Finally, Organic Cheddar Cheese – Shredded Medium, is recalled. It is packaged in 2 kilogram containers with UPC number 7 78177 85132 8, best by date January 24, 2027, and code S177E.
Finally, Life Smart Organic Part Skim Mozzarella Cheese is recalled. It is packed in 200 gram containers, with UPC number 0 59749 99105 6, best by date March 30, 2027, and code 401E.
If you purchased any of these cheeses, do not eat them, even if you plan to cook with them, because of cross-contamination risks. You can throw the cheese away in a trash can after double bagging it, or you can take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund. Wash your hands with soap and water after handling these cheeses.
