Fresh & Local and Fresh Bites sandwiches are being recalled for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination in Canada. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of these items. The recalling firm is Fresh Bites Inc.
These sandwiches were sold at the retail level in the province of Alberta. There are 28 sandwiches included in this recall. No photos of the recalled items were included in the recall notice.
You can see the long list of recalled sandwiches at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency web site, along with the package size, UPC number, and best before dates. The recalled products include these Fresh & Local varieties: Hungryman Sub, Ham & Turkey Croissant Pack, Ham & Cheese Sub, Italian Sub, and Ham & Cheddar Sandwich, among others. The Fresh Bites varieties include Turkey & Bacon Sub, Turkey & Monterey Jack Sandwich, Turkey Club Croissant, Deli Delight Sub, and Ultimate Sub, among others. Finally, unbranded sandwiches are also recalled and include Half Ultimate Sub, Brie, Fig & Turkey Naan, and Ham & Turkey Croissant, among others.
If you purchased any of these sandwiches, do not eat them. You can throw them away in a secure trash can with a tight fitting lid after first double bagging them so others can’t see them, or you can take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.
If you ate any of these sandwiches, monitor your health for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. If you do get sick, see your doctor.
