Starfish Seafood Cold Smoked Trio, which is made from salmon, halibut and trout, is being recalled by the New York State Agriculture Commission for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product. The recalling firm is Krasnyi Oktyabr USA of Brooklyn, New York.

The recalled product is Starfish Seafood Cold Smoked Seafood Trio – Salmon, Halibut, and Trout, that is packaged in 8 ounce containers. The lot number that is stamped on the product label is D139149161-153. The best before date for this food is January 21, 12017. The product was sold nationally at the retail level.
The recall was triggered when sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Market food inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in some 8-ounce packages of the product.
If you bought this product, do not eat it. You can throw it away in a secure garbage can with a tight fitting lid after first wrapping or double bagging it so other people can’t see it, or you can take it back to the store where you purchased it for a full refund. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling this product.
If you ate this item, monitor your health for the symptoms of listeriosis, the illness caused by this pathogen, for the next 70 days. That’s how long the incubation period can be, although most people get sick within a couple of weeks. If you do get sick, see your doctor.
