Blount Fine Foods of Fall River, Massachusetts is recalling some Blount Fine Foods branded Rip Roarin’ Crab Soup for undeclared milk, wheat, and crab allergens.

  • 16 ounce retail cup
  • Product Code: 71116
  • Lot Number: 1202117D
  • Use by or Freeze by date: 2/10/2012
  • Product code and use by or freeze by dates printed in black ink on the bottom of the cup
  • Product sold at Whole Foods Retail stores on the Eastern Coast of the United States

The label incorrectly identifies the product as Manhattan Clam Chowder. No other products or Rip Roarin’ Crab Soups with other date codes are affected by this recall. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with consumption of this product.

Milk, wheat, and crab (seafood) are three of the eight major allergens whose presence in a food requires listing on a label. If someone with any of these allergies consume this product they could develop serious or life-threatening reactions.

If you have purchased this soup, with these specific codes, lot numbers, and use-by dates, and are allergic to wheat, milk, or crab, return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
