Food Poisoning Bulletin is offering a new feature: a recall checker! This tool is under the header “Recalls.” Using your camera on your phone or computer, take a picture of the barcode on the product you are concerned about to see if it has been recalled.
So if you don’t have time to manually check the FDA or USDA lists, just use our checker to immediately see if a food in your fridge, freezer, or pantry is recalled and why it is recalled. You may not need to be concerned about allergens, but everyone needs to know about foods that are being recalled for pathogens, from E. coli to Salmonella.
You can also enter the barcode/UPC number or PLU number manually. Or you can search by the product name. The recall checker will see if that specific product is included in one of the FDA or USDA recall lists. You can add the lot code or best by date if you’d like.
This checker monitors recalls on both of the government’s sites, and it will update several times a day to stay as current as possible.
