In Maryland, Food Lion Issues Very Specific Recall

Food Lion in Stevensville, Maryland has issued a voluntary recall for any fresh meat products purchased at its store at 300 Thompson Creek Mall Road in Stevensville, Maryland, between 9:30 pm Thursday, January 26, and 9:00 am Friday January 27, 2012.

The recall includes beef, chicken, and pork. The company said in a press release that a customer had “potentially poured liquid into a fresh meat case at the store.” While the products were wrapped, and Food Lion doesn’t think there is any consumer health risk, they are asking customers to return the products purchased within that time frame “out of an abundance of precaution.”

After the incident, Food Lion cleaned the area, discarded all products that may have been affected, and began an investigation. They said they are working with authorities to investigate.
