Small Ground Beef Recalls at Two ShopRite Stores

ShopRite and Wakefern Food Corp. are reminding the public of a January 23, 2012 recall of ground meat sold at the ShopRite of Stanton store at 1600 West Newport Pike in Wilmington, Delaware. This is the only ShopRite store under the recall.

About 200 pounds of ground beef processed in that store, sold on January 22, 2012 may contain pieces of a blue glove. Product details:

  • 80/20 store-made ground beef
  • 85/15 store-made ground beef
  • Various package sizes
  • All products have a “Sell by” date of January 22, 2012

There have not been any reports of illness or injury connected with the consumption of this product. Officials think the ground beef could be in consumer’s freezers, so please check to see if you have this product. If you have purchased it, return it to the ShopRite store for a full refund or replacement.

The Delaware Department of Agriculture is monitoring the recall. If you have questions, call the Delaware Department of Agriculture a 1-800-282-8685.

And the ShopRite of Greenwich in New Jersey is recalling store-made ground beef products produced and sold on Saturday, January 28 2012. The meat may contain pieces of white plastic from a tray. All varieties of ground beef processed on that day, including meatloaf mix, are recalled.

Return them to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement. No illnesses or injury have been reported with this recall. ShopRite is using store loyalty cards to contact customers about this recall.
