Bumble Bee Recalls Tuna; Proti Diet Bars Recalled

Bumble Bee has issued a recall on some lots of its chunk white albacore tuna and chunk light tuna products because the seals on the cans are loose. That means bacteria could be in the products, multiplying in that protein-rich environment.

The recalled products are 5-ounce cans of Bumble Bee Chunk White Albacore Tuna in Water, Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in Oil, Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in Water, and Brunswick Chunk LIght Tuna in Water. You can see all of the UPC numbers, can lot codes, and best buy codes at the FDA web site, along with product labels. The tuna was distributed for sale nationwide between January 17, 2013 and February 28, 2013.

The company stated, “due to can integrity concerns, our top priority at this time is to remove these recalled products from distribution as soon as possible. There have been no consumer reports of illness attributed to these products.” If you have purchased any of the recalled tuna, dispose of it. For questions about this recall and reimbursement, call Bumble Bee Consumer Affairs 24 hours a day at 800-800-8572.
