ProtiDiet Bars Recalled for Possible Salmonella Contamination

The ProtiDiet Bars that were recalled in Canada for possible Salmonella contamination have been recalled in the United States as well. Pro-Amino International is the manufacturer. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The product is ProtiDiet High Protein Chocoalte Dream Bars, sold in 210 gram (7.4 ounce) packages. There are seven bars in each package. The UPC number is 6 21498 42238 1, the lot code is CR 18 13 B, and the best before date is 08-2015. Consumers who have purchased this product are at risk for Salmonella contamination. Avoid eating the bars and return them to the point of sale for a refund.

The bars were distributed inĀ Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. They were also available for sale on the internet. The FDA is monitoring the problem along with the CFIA and public health agencies in states where the product was sold.
