H-E-B Recalls Beef Products for Foreign Material

The Texas based grocery chain store H-E-B is voluntarily recalling 13 types of beef products because they may be contaminated with foreign material of metal shavings from a failed bearing in auger machinery. A customer found metal in the product during an in-store sample.  No injuries or illnesses have been reported to date.

Recall SignageThe recalled products include vacuum sealed packages of these products with sell-by dates of 7/4/14 and 7/5/14: Hill Country Fare Beef Fajitas with UPC number starting with 220344; H-E-B Seasoned Beef Fajitas with UPC number starting with 220736; Mi Comida Beef Skirt Steak for Fajitas with UPC number starting with 222322; Mi Comida Beef Skirt Steak for Fajitas with UPC number starting with 222340; Hill Country Fare Beef Fajitas with UPC number starting with 224234; and Texas BBQ Rub Style Beef Skirt with UPC number starting with 238715. Also recalled are vacuum sealed packages with sell by date of 6/24/14 of Beef for Stew Meat with UPC number starting with 222835.

And H-E-B Seasoned Beef for Carne Guisada with UPC number starting with 220595 is recalled; that product has a sell-by date of 6/27/14. Finally, these styrofoam tray products with packed-on dates of 6/9/14 through 6/28/14 are recalled: Stew meat with UPC number starting with 220621; Stew meat with UPC number starting with 220595; Beef for Stew with UPC number starring with 221776; Beef for Stew Meat with UPC number starting with 222832; and Beef for Stew Meat Tenderized with UPC number starting with 222836.

If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund.

    People often forget to consider that foreign object are a serious food poisoning issue just as bacteria is.
