More Chia Seed and Powder Recalled in Canada for Salmonella

More chia seed powder is being recalled in Canada for possible Salmonella contamination. Back 2 the Garden brand organic sprouted chia seed powder was recalled on November 3, 2015. On November 4, 2015, the recall was expanded to include another lot of Back 2 the Garden powder and Now Real Food chia seed is recalled.

The recalled products are Back 2 the Garden Organic Sprouted Chia Seed Powder in 200 gram containers. The lot numbers and codes are Lot # EVCHO150608-04 and BB/MA JUN-2016, and Lot # EVCHO150608-06 and BB/MA JUN-2016. The UPC number for those products is 6 27843 15900 1. The other recalled product is Now Real Food “Sprouted” Milled Chia Seed in 227 gram containers. The code on that product is EVCHO150529-08 and BB/MA JUL-2016, and the UPC number is 7 33739 92070 6. They were sold nationwide and also through internet sales.

If you have purchased these products, do not eat them or use them in cooking. Throw them away in a double bagged or sealed container so other people and animals can’t eat them, or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
