Crescent Brand Raw Pistachios Recalled for Salmonella

pistachio-salmonellaCrescent Specialty Foods, Inc. of Everett, WA is recalling 6 oz. bags of Crescent brand raw pistachios for Salmonella. The recalled product was sold in n 6 oz. clear, plastic bag with Crescent Nuts & Dried Fruits Pistachio Raw label attached with UPC code 8 95296 00103 5  from October 21, 2015 – May 2, 2016. Consumers who have purchased this product should not eat it.

Symptoms of a Salmonella infection include nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Some cases, where the infection gets into the bloodstream, can produce more serious illness and complications including arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

At the time of the recall, no illnesses had been reported. The product was distributed to retail stores and on-line stores in Oregon and Washington.
