Garden of Life Recalls Baby Organic Liquid Formula for Choking Hazard

Garden of Life LLC is recalling Baby Organic Liquid because the label includes directions for use that may be misinterpreted, possibly posing a choking hazard from the thick liquid. The product may be difficult to swallow if it is not administered “precisely following the labeled instructions.”

Baby Organic Liquid is a liquid supplement packaged in a blue carton that includes a measuring syringe. The label says, ““Do not insert syringe directly in mouth. Dispense liquid slowly into the mouth, toward the inner cheek. May be mixed with breast milk or formula.” The company is recalling the product so it can be relabeled with new instructions, advising parents to only administer the product by mixing in either breast milk or formula and not to administer directly into the infant’s mouth.

The recalled product is Baby Organic Liquid with UPC number 58010 12073. The expiration date for all of the recalled product is 12/2018. The lot numbers of the recalled products are 5487617, 5487717, 5487817, and 5500817.

The ingredients in the product are safe for infants. The recall is being issued because a parent had difficulties with safe administration of the product to a newborn. No hospitalizations or similar injuries have occurred. No other Garden of Life products are being recalled.

If you purchased this product, do not feed it to your child. Return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. The product is sold in the USA at a limited number of natural grocers, health food stores, and online.
