German Chocolate Cakes Recalled for Undeclared Pecans

In St. Louis, Missouri, Scnucks Bakery has announced an allergy alert for thirteen German chocolate cakes. According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), these cakes may contain pecans that were not noted on the product labeling.

The one-pound cakes, labeled “SCHNUCKS BAKERY DELUXE PETITE CAKE CHOCOLATE ICED YELLOW,” were distributed in plastic cake domes to 12 Schnucks retail stores in the states of Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri. The specific stores affected by the recall are located in Granite City, IL, Belleville, IL, Edwardsville, IL, Cherry Valley, IL, DeKalb, IL, Evansville, IN, Newburgh, IN, Des Peres, MO, Overland, MO, Forissant, MO, and St. Louis, MO.

The containers are marked with a “Sell By” date of 8/12/17 – 8/14/17 and the UPC code 41318 31168. People who are allergic to pecans run the risk of life-threatening illness if they eat these German chocolate cakes.
