Pier 1 Recalls Mugs for Burn Hazard

Pier 1 Imports is recalling Chalk Note Mugs because they pose a burn hazard, as posted on the Consumer Product Safety Commission site. The mugs can crack when filled with hot liquid.

The recall is for Pier 1 Imports Chalk Note Mugs that can be written on with chalk. The The stoneware mugs were sold in black and measure 5.25 inches tall by 5 inches in diameter. “Stoneware” and “Pier 1 Imports” are printed on the bottom of the mug.

Consumers should stop using the mugs and contact Pier 1 for refund or credit. The firm has received reports of eight mugs cracking when filled with hot liquid. No injuries have been reported to date. About 15,300 of these mugs were sold in the U.S., and 900 were sold in Canada. The mugs were made in China.
