Marsee Foods, doing business as Marsee Baking, is voluntarily recalling chocolate chip, ginger spice, and oatmeal raisin cookies that were sold at Cafe Yumm! restaurants because they may contain undeclared peanuts, one of the major food allergens. Anyone who is allergic to or has a sensitivity to peanuts could have a serious reaction if they eat these cookies. No illnesses or reactions have been reported to date in connection with this recall.
The cookies are safe to eat unless you are allergic to peanuts. The cookies were sold at Cafe Yumm! restaurants in Oregon and Washington state between August 6 and August 15, 2018. The cookies were available in both a chocolate-chipped and undipped version, and were served on a plate for dine-in restaurant customers or were offered in a pastry bag for take out.
These cookies are not labeled and do not have any lot codes, UPC numbers, or other identifying marks. The recall was started after someone discovered peanuts in a chocolate chip cookie before it was sold.
If you bought any of these cookies, and are allergic to peanuts, do not eat them. Discard them or take them back to the place where you bought them for a refund.
The symptoms of a peanut allergy can be mild or severe. Mild symptoms include itchy or tingling mouth or tongue, a runny nose, red or itchy skin, and hives. More serious reactions include diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, and vomiting, along with tightening of the throat and shortness of breath or wheezing. These symptoms can begin a few minutes after eating the food, or up to two to four hours later.
