Foods Recalled for Undeclared Almonds, Sulfites, and Shellfish

Three foods have been recalled recently for different kinds of undeclared allergen; for undeclared almonds, sulfites, and shellfish. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported in any of these recalls.

The first recall is for Melissa’s Spicy Edamame, for undeclared shellfish. The product contains “Oyster Extract” within the spicy sauce packet.

This product was distributed in Arizona, California, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas. It is Melissa’s Spicy Edamame, packaged in a 7 ounce cardboard sleeve. The UPC number is 0-45255-14637-0, and the best if used by dates are 5/29/18 through 7/02/18. An incorrect spice sauce pack was packed in the product.

The second recall is for Golden Star Wholesale AL Reef Dried Apricots Sour, for undeclared sulfites. They were sold in Michigan, New York, Minnesota, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Oregon, Massachusetts, Ohio, Texas, and Missouri between November 2017 and May 2018.

Sampling by the  New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors found the sulfites. The product is sold in a 12 ounce (340 gram) clear plastic container, and is uncoded. The product has a picture of the dried apricots on the label.

And the third recall is for Nectar Foods, doing business as Honey Mama’s, for undeclared almonds in Oregon Peppermint Cacao Nectar Bar. They were sold in Arkansas, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin through retail stores, and in web site sales between June 1, 2018 and June 21, 2018.

The recalled product is Oregon Peppermint bars in 79 sleeves (948 units), with lot code 112918. The label is blue with a white script and a dark blue Honey Mama’s hummingbird logo. The bars are wrapped in brown freezer paper and sealed with the label, measuring 3×3 inches. The UPC number is 8 54835 00402 9. The bars are refrigerated or frozen, with the expiration code 112918.

If you purchased any of these products and are allergic to the subsequent undeclared allergen, don’t eat them. Discard them or take them back to the store where you bought them for a refund.
