Two Recalls of Products, From Whole Foods and Emerald Nuts, for Undeclared Nuts

Two products have been recalled for undeclared nuts. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported in either recall.

The first recall is for Whole Foods Market Vegan Buffalo Chicken Bites that were sold at 13 Whole Foods Market stores in New York and New Jersey. The product contains pecans, one of the major food allergens, that wasn’t declared on the label.

The products were sold in 9 ounce containers labeled “Whole Food Market Vegan Buffalo Chicken Bites” with UPC number 636910500059 and expiration date 2/27/2018. They were sold at these Whole Foods Market stores: 1255 Raritan Road, Clark, NJ, 113 Route 9 South, Marlboro, NJ, 1933 State Road 35, Wall, NJ, 235 Prospect Avenue, West Orange, NJ, 238 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY, 120 New Moriches Road, Lake Grove, NY, 4 Union Square South, New York, NY, 95 E Houston Street, New York, NY, 226 East 57th Street, New York, NY, 250 7th Avenue, New York, NY, 808 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY, 1095 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY, and 1551 3rd Avenue, New York, NY.

The second recall is for a nut product that contains other nuts. Emerald Nuts is recalling Glazed Walnuts because it may contain undeclared peanuts, almonds, cashews, and pecans. People can be allergic to different types of nuts, and peanut allergies are in a class all by themselves. Consumer complaints were the trigger for this recall, even though no illnesses were reported.

The recalled product is Emerald Glazed Walnuts in 6.5 ounce packages. The UPC number is 0 1030080894 7, the beset before date is 15 DEC 2018, and the package production code is EN1216XX2.

If you purchased either of these products and are allergic to the specified allergens, don’t eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund.
