Nerstrand Meats and Catering Recalls Jerky-Style Products For Improper Processing

Nerstrand Meats and Catering of Nerstrand, Minnesota, is voluntarily recalling three jerky-style meat products that may be adulterated due to improper processing. Minnesota Department of Agriculture inspectors discovered the processing deviation during a routine inspection. No illnesses or adverse events have been reported to the company or to the state to date in connection with this issue.

The Nerstrand Meats and Catering products that are recalled include Regular Beef Strips, Cajun Beef Strips, and Smoked Turkey Strips. They were produced between May 1 and October 31, 2019. These recalled items were sold at Nerstrand Meats and Catering in Nerstrand, Minnesota; the HyVee store located at 1620 South Cedar Avenue in Owatonna, Minnesota; and the Hyvee store located at 1920 Grand Street Northwest in Faribault, Minnesota.

If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Throw them away in a sealed garbage can, or take them back to the place of purchase for a full refund. If you think you may have become ill from eating these products, contact a healthcare provider.

There was no indication about what adverse reactions could be related to this issue; just that no one has gotten sick. The recalled products have the establishment number “253” inside the State of Minnesota mark of inspection that is printed on the label.
