Ryki Gouda Cheese Slices Recalled For Possible Listeria

Ryki Gouda Cheese Slices are being recalled in Canada for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination by Polish Trade Center Ltd. This cheese was sold in Ontario at the retail level. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue.

The recalled product is Ryki Gouda Cheese Slices sold in 4.76 ounce containers. The UPC number on the product is 5 902208 000859, and the code on the product is C29N / 290351.

The recall was triggered by Canadian Food Inspection Agency test results. An investigation into the problem is being conducted, which may lead to the recall of other products. And the CFIA is making sure that the company is removing this product from the marketplace.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it, even if you plan to cook with it. Cross-contamination between this product and other foods may be a problem. Throw the cheese away in a secure garbage can, or take it back to the place of purchase for a refund.

Then clean out your refrigerator with a mild bleach solution of one tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to one gallon of warm water to kill any bacteria. Listeria bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures, and freezing doesn’t kill it. Wipe down the inside of the fridge and other containers, then rinse and dry with a clean cloth. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after cleaning and after touching the product.

If you ate any of this Ryki Gouda cheese, monitor yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis, which can take up to 70 days to appear. Symptoms include high fever, stiff neck, headache, nausea, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may only have a mild illness that seems like the flu, but listeriosis can cause miscarriage and stillbirth. If you do get sick, see your doctor.
