Ryki Rycki Edam Cheese Recall For Possible Listeria Updated

The July 23, 2019 Ryki Rycki Edam cheese recall in Canada for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination is being updated to include more product information two more of these cheeses are being recalled. The company distributing the cheese slices is Polish Trade Center Ltd. This product was sold in Ontario at the retail level. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with this issue.

Rycki Edam Cheese Recall

The newly recalled products added to this alert include Ryki Rycki Edam cheese slices in 4.76 ounce packages. The UPC number on that product is 5 902208 000811, and the codes on the package are D30N/300454. The other newly recalled product is Ryki Rycki Edam smoked cheese slices, also in 4.76 ounce packages. The UPC number for that product is 5 902208 000828, and the code is D30N/300469.

The recall was triggered by Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) test results. A food safety investigation is being conducted, which may lead to more recalls. The CFIA is making sure that industry is removing these products from the marketplace.

If you purchased either of these products, do not eat them, even if you are going to cook with them. Throw them away in a sealed container in a secure garbage can so other people and animals can’t reach them. You can also take them back to the place of purchase for a refund.

It’s a good idea to clean out your refrigerator with a mild bleach solution after you discard these products. Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures. Freezing doesn’t kill it. Wash your hands well with soap and water after cleaning and after handling this product.
