Simply Smart Organics Frozen Chicken Products Recalled

Perdue Foods of Perry, Georgia, is recalling about 495 pounds of frozen Simply Smart Organics Frozen Chicken ready-to-eat products because they contain wheat, one of the major food allergens, that isn’t declared on the label. Anyone who is allergic to wheat or who has celiac disease could have a serious reaction if they eat these products. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products.

Simply Smart Organics Frozen Chicken Products Recalled

The products are labeled as gluten free chicken breast tenders, but the packages actually contain chicken nuggets. They were produced on August 30, 2019. The recalled product is 22 ounce releasable plastic bags containing “Simply Smart Organics Chicken Breast Tenders Gluten Free.” The best by date on the package is 08 29 20, and the UPC number is 0-72745-80489-2. The time stamp on the recalled product is 00:30 to 01:00, inclusive.

The recalled chicken product has the establishment number “P-33944” printed on the package label. They were shipped to distributors and retail locations in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Two consumer complaints triggered this recall.

If you purchased this product, and cannot consume wheat, don’t eat it. Throw it away or take it back to the place of purchase for a refund. FSIS thinks that some of this product may be in consumers’ freezers.

If and when the retail establishment list is collected, FSIS will publish it. Meanwhile, they are conducting retail effectiveness checks to ensure that the product is removed from store shelves. The government is also making sure that the firm is notifying its customers about this recall.
