Crystal Temptations Chocolatey Eyeballs are being recalled for milk, one of the nine major food allergens, that is not declared on the product label as required by the FDA. Anyone who is allergic to milk proteins, as well as anyone who is lactose intolerant, could have a serious reaction if they eat this product. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of these products. The recalling firm is Crystal Temptations of North Arlington, New Jersey.
This item was sold in the states of Arizona, Texas, Virginia, Georgia, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Indiana, Nevada, California, New Jersey, Connecticut, Ohio, and Wyoming. It was sold in these retail stores: Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Homegoods, and Sierra Trading Post.
The recalled items are all Crystal Temptations brand. They include Crystal Farms Chocolatey Eyeballs packaged in 10 ounce plastic bags with style number 54040-CHEY, Chocolatey Eyeballs in 87 ounce acrylic box with designed paper wrap with style number 54077-CHEY, and Chocolatey Eyeballs in 10.5 ounce round plastic jars with style number 58008-CHEY.
Chocolatey Eyeballs packaged in a 16 ounce designer plastic pouch bag with style number 58089-CHEY is also recalls, as is Chocolatey Eyeballs in an 11 ounce plastic bag tied with a tag with the style number 54083-CHEY..
The recall was triggered when a TJX analyst found that the candy contains whey and were distributed in packaging that di don’t reveal the presence of milk. You can see more pictures of the recalled products at the FDA web site.
If you bought any of these items and you cannot consume milk, don’t eat them. You can throw them away in a secure trash can after first double bagging them so other people can’t see them, or you can take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.
