Sempio Korean Ginseng Chicken Stew in two varieties is being recalled for lack of inspection. These items were imported from the Republic of Korea without the benefit of import reinspection into the United States. There have been no reports of illness or injuries received by the company to date in connection with the consumption of these products. The recalling firm is the importer, Sempio Food Services of Cerritos, California.
The ready to eat products were produced on March 30, 2026, and have the best by date of September 29, 2027. The recalled items are cardboard boxes containing pouches of 31.75-ounce Sempio Korean Ginseng Chicken Stew Classic, and pouches of 31.75 ounce pouches of Sempio Korean Ginseng Chicken Stew Rich. The pouches are orange in color with a picture of the stew on the front, the name of the product in English in white on the front, and Korean characters in light orange.
These items have the Korean establishment number GIA15001 and the shipping mark MK-2026-0422-01. The stew was distributed to distributors and retailers in the states of Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
The problem was discovered during routine FSIS surveillance activities. This is a shelf stable product and is kept at room temperature.
