Ci Sport Insulated Lunch Box Set Recall

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with California Innovations, Inc., is recalling an expandable insulated lunch box because of the freezer gel pack included with the boxes, which can leak.

The packs contain diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol, both poisons. They present a poisoning hazard if ingested. Consumers are urged to stop using the gel packs immediately; in fact, if you discard them, contact your local waste disposal authority for instructions because the packs contain poisonous material.

The recall includes 248,000 Expandable Insulated Lunch Box with Freezer Gel Pack imported by California Innovations Inc. of Toronto, Canada. The products were sold in the United States at Costo Wholesale Clubs, Leon Korol, and Cost U Less stores from May 2007 through September 2008 for about $10.00. It’s very possible the lunch boxes are still being used. Another food carrier set imported by California Innovations is being recalled for the same reason.
