In Canada, California Compass Walnuts Recalled for Possible Salmonella

The CFIA is warning the public not to consume Compass brand in-shell California walnuts because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. There have been no illnesses reported linked to the consumption of this product.

The walnuts are sold in 300 gram packages, with UPC number 0 68297 20121 0, with a best before date of 07MA2014. The product was distributed nationally. The importer/packer, Compass Food Sales of Ontario is voluntarily recalling the product from the marketplace.

Foods contaminated with Salmonella may not look, taste, or smell spoiled. The bacteria can cause serious illness in everyone, but especially those in high risk groups.
