Harmony Chai Recalls Tea for Possible Botulism

Harmony Chai is recalling its Concentrated Black Spiced Chai and Decaffeinated Rooibos Chai because it may not be properly processed and could possibly be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum bacteria. There have been no reported illnesses to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

Recall SignageConcentrated Black Spiced Chai is in 22 ounce (650 ml) amber glass bottles with UPC number 0510501311. It’s also in 64 ounce (1892.7 ml) amber glass jugs with UPC number 0510501301. Decaffeinated Roobios Chai is in 22 ounce (624.25 ml) amber glass bottles with UPC number  9450402431 and 64 ounce (1892.7 ml) amber glass jugs with UPC number 0510501301. (That last UPC number may be incorrect; we contacted the FDA to ask about it.) The product was sold through farmers market,s grocery stores, and cafes in Western Washington state. Areas of distribution include the San Juan, Skagit, Snohomish and King counties.

The Washington State Department of Agriculture determined that the tea was not properly processed. If you purchased this product, return it to the place of purchase for a refund. For questions, call 888-SAFEFOOD.
