The E. coli O26:H11 outbreak linked to Sierra Nevada Graziers raw milk cheese is unchanged. The case count by state is: California (3), Colorado (1), Georgia (1), Kentucky (1), Michigan (1), Nevada (3), Oregon (1), Tennessee (1), and Utah (1). The patient age range is from one to 58 years, with a median age of five. Illness onset dates range from July 7, 2026 to August 26, 2026. Eight patients in this outbreak have been hospitalized. Three of them have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). The cheese has been recalled.
An E. coli O157:H7 outbreak in a not yet identified food has sickened 38 people, and increase of 13 more patients since the last update. The FDA has initiated traceback and sampling.
A Listeria monocytogenes outbreak in a not yet identified food has sickened at least 44 people, an increase of four patients. The FDA has initiated traceback.
The Salmonella Bovismorbificans outbreak linked to Evergreen Fresh broccoli sprouts has grown to include 10 more patients, for a total of 32. The case count by state is: Idaho (1), Minnesota (1), Montana (4), Oregon (1), Utah (1), and Washington (24). The new states are Minnesota and Oregon. Illness onset dates range from July 7, 2026 to September 3, 2026. And the patient age range is from 2 to 87 years. Three patients have been hospitalized. The sprouts have been recalled.
A Salmonella Newport outbreak in a not yet identified food has sickened at least 116 people. The FDA has started traceback and sampling.
The E. coli and Salmonella Agona outbreak linked to Everything Sprouts products has sickened at least 76 people in 16 states. There are four strains of E. coli bacteria in this outbreak: E. coli O26:H11, E. coli O103:H25, and E. coli O168:H8. The company has recalled its broccoli sprouts, Crunchy Protein Sprout Mix, Zesty Garlic Mix, and Robust Radish Mix. The case count by state is: Florida (2), Iowa (2), Indiana (1), Kansas (1), Michigan (1), Minnesota (28), North Carolina (3), North Dakota (3), New Hampshire (1), New York (2), Oregon (1), Pennsylvania (1), South Carolina (1), South Dakota (1), Washington (1), and Wisconsin (27). Six patients have been hospitalized. Berlin Seeds has recalled their alfalfa sprouting seeds linked to these items.
The Salmonella I 4,[5],12:I- outbreak that has sickened at least 43 people has not been solved. The FDA has initiated traceback, has started an inspection, and has initiating sampling.
There are five cyclospora outbreaks on the table. All of them have ended, although the investigations are still ongoing. The FDA has declared the cyclospora outbreak linked to Taylor Farms de Mexico iceberg lettuce over, after it sickened at least 12,883 people in 21 states. There were 570 patients hospitalized. The larger outbreak, which has sickened at least 29,024 people in 48 states, is still ongoing, but since the season for cyclospora is over, the CDC will only update the numbers once a week if needed.
The Salmonella Javiana outbreak linked to jalapeño peppers and products made with those peppers, has ended with 488 people sick in 34 states. Sixty-five people were hospitalized, and no deaths were reported. The case count by state is: Alabama (7), Arkansas (1), California (2), Colorado (132), Florida (1), Georgia (43), Hawaii (1), Illinois (35), Indiana (6), Iowa (1), Kansas (14), Kentucky (2), Louisiana (1), Michigan (5), Minnesota (133), Missouri (9), Montana (8), New Jersey (1), New Mexico (6), North Carolina (6), North Dakota (2), Nebraska (6), Ohio (4), Oklahoma (9), Pennsylvania (2), South Carolina (8), Tennessee (9), Texas (5), Utah (1), Virginia (3), Washington (1), West Virginia (2), Wisconsin (12), and Wyoming (9). There were many recalls of these products; please check to see if you have any since some have a long shelf life. If you do, do not eat them.
