In Canada, More Cheese Recalled for Staphylococcus Toxin

The Canadian Food Inspection AGency and Fromagerie Le Détour are updating the multiple recalls of their cheeses because they may contain a toxin produced by Staphylococcus bacteria. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of these products.

The recalled products are Citadelle surface ripened soft cheese sold in various size packages. The code on the product is Lot 07. There is no UPC number. Also recalled is Grey Owl surface ripened soft cheese in various size packages. The codes on the product are Lot 21, Lot 22, and Lot 23. There is no UPC number.

If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Discard in a closed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund. And remember that food contaminated with bacteria or toxins will not look, smell, or taste spoiled. The toxin produced by this bacteria is not destroyed at cooking temperatures.
