Peach Slices Recalled for Undeclared Sulfites

peach-slice-sulfitesLion Pavillion of Maspeth, NY is recalling Tasty Peach Slices because the product contains undeclared sulfites. Consumers with severe sensitivity to sulfites should not eat this product as they run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they do. No illnesses had been reported in connection with this product at the time of the recall.

The recalled Tasty Peach Slices were sold in 3.87 ounce (110g), clear plastic jars and distributed nationwide. They are a product of China. The problem was discovered during routine testing by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors.

Consuming 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving can cause severe reactions in some asthmatics including  anaphylactic shock.  Analysis of the Tasty Peach Slices revealed they contained 12.75 milligrams per serving.
