Prime Snax Recalls Beef Jerky for Undeclared Soy

Prime Snax Inc. of Utah is recalling about 90,000 pounds of beef jerky products because of misbranding and an undeclared allergen, according to the USDA. The products were made with a releasing agent containing soy lecithin, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label.

Recall SignageThe recalled products include Arizona Jacks brand, Desert Star Brand, Southwest Trail Brand, Terrell Brand, and Kettle Creek brand in various flavors and sizes. You can see the full list of recalled products, along with the sizes and specific names at the USDA site. The products were made before February 2, 2014 and were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

The products have the establishment number “EST. 18951” inside the USDA mark of inspection and a date on the packages before August 11, 2015, in the format of “mm dd yy.” The problem was discovered by an FSIS in-plant inspector during a label review. There have been no reports of adverse reactions associated with the consumption of these products.

If you purchased any of these products and are allergic to soy, do not eat them. Return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
