Wegmans Bagged Ice Recalled for Metal Fragments

Wegmans Food Markets is recalling bagged ice because it may contain small metal pieces from a broken part in the machine that makes the ice, posing a possible choking hazard. Comments

  1. Tami,
That’s because the states (primarily) and the FDA do not enforce for packaged ice the packaged food labeling regulations. As the international trade association for packaged ice manufacturers we have brought this to their attention many times. Our producer members label their ice products appropriately and to regulations in addition to date coding their bags for traceability.

  2. Tami K. Hastings says

At least the ice bags are labeled! Do you have any idea how many bags of ice that I come across that are not even labeled? I’d guess at least 75%, could be more.
