Chicken at Subway Sandwich Shops Recalled for Plastic Pieces

Grilled chicken served at Subway sandwich shops in Oklahoma, Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois and Texas is being recalled because it may contain plastic pieces. The chicken was prepared by West Liberty Foods of Tremonton, Utah. The company has contacted the restaurants impacted in this recall.

Recall SignageAbout 34,075 pounds of grilled chicken breast products produced on February 4, 2015 are being recalled. They were shipped in 25-lb. cardboard boxes containing five  5-lb plastic bags labeled “SUBWAY FULLY COOKED GRILLED CHICKEN BREAST PATTY WITH RIB MEAT.” The establishment number “EST. 34349 or P-34349” appears inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The problem was discovered after the company received complaints from consumers who found small pieces of white plastic in the product. There had been no reports of injury at the time of the recall.
