Safeway, Albertsons, Recall Vegetable Trays for Possible Listeria Contamination

Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, and Pak N’ Save Stores in eight states are voluntarily recalling fresh vegetable trays and cups for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.  No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

This recall was caused by the Mann’s Packing recall of minimally processed produce that was issued on October 19, 2017. The recalled products contain some of those vegetables. We are keeping a list of all secondary recalls of Mann’s Packing products  for your convenience.

These products were sold only in certain stores in certain states. The products have Sell Thru Dates up to and including October 24, 2017. They are packaged in clear plastic trays and cups of different sizes.

The following products were sold in Safeway stores in California, Hawaii and Nevada; Pak’N Save stores in California; and Vons stores in Fresno, Clovis and Oakhurst, California. They are Cauliflower Chopped in 8 ounce packages with UPC number 24105000000; Veggies w/Dip in 8 ounce packages with UPC number 24201200000; Premium Vegetable Tray in 2 pound 14 ounce packages with UPC number 24210800000; and Vegetables Steaming in 13 ounce containers with UPC number 24214000000. Also recalled is Broccoli Carrots Cauliflower with Ranch Dip 330 cal in 9 ounce packages with UPC number 24218800000; Broccoli Carrots & Celery w/ Ranch Dip 320 cal in 9 ounce packages with UPC number 24218900000; Broccoli Carrots Grape Tomatoes & Dip 340 cal in 10 ounce packages with UPC number 24219000000; and Broccoli Carrots Snap Peas & Dip 340 cal in 9 ounce packages with UPC number 24219100000.

Carrots/Broccoli/Cauliflower in 14 ounce packages with UPC number 24220800000 is also recalled, along with Broccoli/Cauliflower in 14 ounce packages and UPC 24220900000; Broccoli Florets in 14 ounce containers and UPC 24221000000; Cauliflower in 10 ounce packages with UPC 24222400000; and Vegetable Tray w/ Dip in 2 pound 14 ounce packages and UPC number 24250100000. Finally, Tomatoes Broccoli Cheese & Ranch Dip 530 cal in 8 ounce packages is recalled, with UPC 24288700000.

The following products were sold in Albertsons and Safeway stores in Colorado, Nebraska, Northwestern New Mexico, South Dakota and Wyoming. They include Veggie Ranch Snack Pack in 7 ounce packages with UPC code 24191200000; Premium Vegetable Tray in 46 ounce containers with UPC 24210800000; Vegetables Steaming in 29 ounce packages with UPC 24214000000; and Round Vegetable Tray in 38 ounce containers with UPC 24222000000. Finally, Rectangular Vegetable tray in 72 ounce packages, with UPC number 24222100000 is recalled, along with 20 ounce Sauté Kit with UPC 24261300000; 10 ounce Sauté Kit with Sauce, with UPC 24261400000; 12 ounce Vegetable Medley w/ Tomato Chipotle Butter with UPC 24263200000; and Vegetable Tray with Dip Grab n Go in 20 ounce containers with UPC number 24282200000.

If you bought these products, do not eat them, even if you plan to cook them. Throw them away in a sealed package or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Wash your hands after handling this product, and clean out your fridge with a mild bleach solution to kill any bacteria.

If you ate these products, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. They may include severe headache, stiff neck, high fever, nausea, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may only experience a mild flu-like illness, but listeriosis can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature labor.
