Mountain Rose Herbs Fennel Recalled For Possible Salmonella

Mountain Rose Herbs of Eugene, Oregon is recalling their whole fennel seed from Lot #25031 because it may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue.

The Fennel Seed Whole was sold directly to customers who ordered from the company’s web site, purchased the seeds at the company’s retail shop in Eugene, Oregon, or ordered by phone os fax. It was also distributed to vitamin and health food stores in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, and West Virginia. It was also sold to one consignee in Canada. Mountain Rose Herbs customers may have also resold the Fennel Seed Whole to their own clients.

The recalled products is packaged in a clear plastic or poly-woven bag marked with lot number 25031. which is printed on the main display panel on the lower left of the label. The sizes of the recalled product range from 4 ounces to 50 pounds. This product has been sold and distributed to the above named store and venues from April 2019 through July 18, 2019.

Testing by the company revealed the presence of Salmonella in a portion of its active inventory. The company has suspended production while an investigation is conducted.

If you purchased this product from this company, do not eat it, even if you plan to cook with it. Throw it away or take it back to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
