Captain Rusty’s Seafood Dips Recalled For Undeclared Allergens

Rusty’s Seafood Market of Lorida, Florida, is recalling all five types of its Captain Rusty’s Seafood Dips because they contain six of the eight major food allergens: fish, crustacean shellfish, wheat, eggs, soy, and milk. Anyone who is allergic to those foods, and anyone with lactose intolerance or celiac disease, could have a serious reaction if they eat these products. There have been no confirmed illnesses reported to date.

The fish that may be the products include mahi, salmon, whiting, pollock,and  threadfin bream. The crustacean shellfish that may be in the products include crab, lobster, and shrimp. It may seem strange to see those ingredients mentioned, but if they are in a product they must be listed on the label in the allergen statement.

The recalled products are Captain Rusty’s Smoked Salmon Dip with lot code 2015 and expiration date 6/16/20; and lot code 2023 and expiration date 6/23/20. Also recalled is Captain Rusty’s Smoked Mahi Dip with lot code 1999 and expiration date 6/1/20; lot code 2002 and expiration date 6/6/20; lot code 2009 and expiration date 6/13/20; lot code 2010 and expiration date 6/14/20; lot code 2011 and expiration date 6/16/20; lot code 2017 and expiration date 6/17/20; and lot code 2019 and expiration date 6/21/20.

Captain Rusty’s Lobster Dip is recalled, with lot code 1992 and expiration date 5/30/20; lot code 1998 and expiration date 6/1/20; lot code 2000 and expiration date 6/6/20; lot code 2005 and expiration date 6/7/20; and lot code 2014 and expiration date 6/16/20. Also recalled is Captain Rusty’s Cajun Crab and Lobster Dip with lot code 1994 and expiration date 5/30/20; lot code 1996 and expiration date 6/1/20; lot code 2004 and expiration date 6/7/20; lot code 2006 and expiration date 6/11/20; lot code 2008 and expiration code 6/11/20; lot code 2013 and expiration date 6/16/20; lot code 2018 and expiration date 6/17/20; and lot code 2021 with expiration date 6/23/20.

Finally, Captain Rusty’s Blue Crab Dip is recalled. The lot numbers and expiration dates on that product are 1993 with 5/30/20; 1997 with 6/1/20; 2001 with 6/6/20; 2003 with 6/7/20; 2007 with 6/11/20; 2012 with 6/16/20; 2020 with 6/21/20; and 2022 with 6/23/20. These products are packaged in 7 ounce clear plastic containers, 16 ounce clear plastic containers, and 6 pound white plastic buckets. The lot code is on the bottom of the container and the expiration date is on the top label.

These products were sold in South Florida, Sarasota, FL., Tampa, FL. and Lorida, FL. through distributors and retail markets. If you purchased any of these products and can’t eat the allergens listed, don’t eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the place of purchase for a full refund.
