Both pets and people can be infected with contaminated pet food. Pets infected with these pathogens may be lethargic and have bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Pets that appear healthy can be carriers and infect other animals or people. People can get sick when they touch the fur of an animal who has excreted the pathogen in their feces, or by touching the food or anything where the animal has been, then touching their mouths or eating without washing their hands first.

These recalled items were sold directly to consumers and were also sold online through Amazon and Chewy. You can see more pictures of the product labels at the FDA web site.

The recalled products include Fi Calming Supplement for Dogs in 180 gram containers. The lot number for this item is 26118, and the UPC number stamped on the label is 8 50064 80011 1. Also recalled is Fi 8-in-1 Formula Supplement for Dogs, also packaged in 180 gram containers. The lot number for that product is 26159, and the UPC number is 8 50055 11168 4.

If you purchased either of these Fi Dog Supplements, do not feed them to your pet. You can throw it away in a secure garbage can after first wrapping or double bagging the container so people can’t see it and animals can’t access it. The recall notice did not state if refunds would be issued.

If you have fed these products to your dog, monitor their health for a Salmonella infection, and see a veterinarian if they get sick. If any person in contact with the dog or its environment experiences the symptoms of Salmonella poisoning, see your doctor.
