Grand Central Bakery Potato Sourdough Bread is being recalled for possible foreign material contamination, in the form of pieces of metal. This poses a tooth injury, mouth injury, choking, and GI tract injury hazard. No injuries have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of these products. The recalling firm is Grand Central Bakery of Seattle, Washington.

These breads were sold at grocery stores, select restaurants, wholesalers, and four Grand Central Bakery Cafe locations in the Seattle and Tacoma metro areas in Washington state on August 10, 2026.
The recalled items are all Grand Central Bakery Potato Sourdough Breads. They include the 20 ounce Potato Market Loaf, sold at grocery stores, packaged in a brown paper bag. The UPC number is 733163001576. The 20 ounce Potato Table Loaf is also recalled. It was sold direct to consumers art Grand Central Bakery Cafes and wholesalers. The shelf life of this product is one day. There was no packaging, and no UPC number. Finally, the 12 ounce Mini Potato Loaf is recalled. It was sold at grocery stores and wholesalers, with no packaging and no UPC number.
The Grand Central bakery cafe locations in Seattle are in these cities: Burien, Eastlake, Wallingford, and Wedgewood. Other grocery stores that carried the bread in the Seattle and Tacoma areas include Central Co-op, Fred Meyer Stores,Hilltop Red Apple, Ken’s Markets, Marketime Foods, PCC Markets, QFC Stores, Town & Country Market, Thriftway Stores, Whole Foods Markets, Yakima Fruit Markets, and Metropolitan Markets.
The recall was triggered when a pallet nail was found in a loaf of the Potato Sourdough Bread. You can see more pictures of the recalled products at the FDA web site.
If you bought any of these breads, do not eat them. Throw them away in a secure trash can, then contact the bakery for a full refund.
