CFIA Expands XL Foods Beef Recall for E. coli 0157:H7 for 11th Time

The CFIA has expanded its recall of beef produced by XL Foods for E. coli 0157:H7 for the eleventh time. The product production dates are still August 24, 27, 28, 29, and September 5, 2012, but the recall has expanded to include whole muscle meat cuts. You can see the full list of newly recalled products at the CFIA web site.

RecallThe brands included in this recall are Prairie Meats, Costco Wholesale Canada, Tendero, Pasquier, Délectable, Viandes VP Meats, Compball, Sobeys/Foodland, IGA, Les Marchés Tradition, Bonichoix, Omni, Thrifty Foods, and Walmart. The brands were sold at Extra Foods, No Frills, Real Canadian WholeSale Club, Shop Easy, Supervalu, Your Independent Grocer, Affiliated Independents, Atlantic No Frills, Loblaws, Maxi & Cie, Maxi, Presto, Club Entropot, and Provigo. The products sold include short ribs, steaks, roasts, tenderloin, rib roasts, ground beef, ground beef, and tenderized steaks.

Make sure you look carefully at the very long list of products and facilities where they were sold. If you have any of these products in your fridge or freezer, discard them or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
