The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Milford Bay Trout Farm Inc. are recalling smoked trout filets because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. These filets are ready-to-eat right out of the package.

There have not be any reported illnesses in connection with consumption of this product. Foods contaminated with Listeria, in fact most bacteria, do not look spoiled, do not taste bad, and do not have a bad aroma. Anyone who consumes tainted food can get sick. But pregnant women, the young, the elderly, and those with chronic diseases may suffer serious infections and complications when they eat food contaminated with bacteria.
