SunOpta Sunflower Seed Recall Expands to Include 8 More Months of Production

SunOpta is expanding its recall of sunflower kernel products due to potential contamination with Listeria. The expansion covers products originating from SunOpta’s facility in Crookston, Minn. between May 31, 2015 and January 31, 2016.

At the time of the recall expansion, no illnesses had been reported in connection with the sunflower kernels. However, consumers should carefully check product information (by clicking the preceding link) and not consume any of the recalled products as Listeria can cause serious illness and death.

The recalled products were sent to distribution centers in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and Canada. From those locations, they may have been redistributed to other states.
