PDX Aromatics Expands Kratom Recall for Possible Salmonella Contamination

PDX Aromatics, doing business as Kraken Kratom, Phytoextractum, and Soul Speciosa, is expanding the recall of kratom products because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. There is a large Salmonella outbreak that is linked to kratom containing products, but the recall notice did not state whether or not any illnesses are linked to these specific products.

Phytoextractum Kratom Salmonella Recall

The expanded recall includes kratom white vein powder and capsule products and red vein powder products. They were shipped between 1/18/2018 and 3/8/2018. They were sold directly to internet consumers in the United States through the company’s websites.

You can see the long list of recalled products at the FDA web site, along with the brand names, product names, net weight, and lot codes. Some of the products recalled dinlcucde Red Vein Sumatra Kratom Powder, White Maeng Da Thai Capsules, White Vein Borneo Kratom Capsules, Red Dragon Kratom Powder, Red Vein Borneo Kratom Powder, and Maeng Da Thai Kratom Powder (White Vein), among others.

PDX Aromatics has identified a supplier in their supply chain as the source of Salmonella bacteria. The company is notifying all customers to return products so they can be destroyed.

If you purchased any of these products, do not consume them. Throw them away in a sealed or double bagged package in a secure garbage can, or take them back to the place of purchase for a full refund.

If you did take any of these products and have been experiencing the symptoms of a Salmonella infection, see your doctor. Those symptoms include fever, nausea, abdominal cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea that may be bloody.

There are at least 87 people in 35 states who are ill with Salmonella infections linked to products containing kratom. Four serotypes of Salmonella bacteria have sickened those patients: Salmonella Thompson, Salmonella Okatie, Salmonella Javiana, and Salmonella I 4,[5],12:b:-.
