Wegmans Recalls Coffee Cake for Undeclared Milk

Wegmans is recalling three flavors of coffeecake because they contain undeclared milk, one of the major food allergens. Anyone who is allergic to or sensitive to milk, or who is lactose intolerant, could have a reaction if they eat these products. No illnesses or reactions have been reported to date with this recall issue.

The recalled products are Wegmans Pumpkin Loaf in 19 ounce packages. The UPC number on that product is 77890 27002 and the use by dates are up to and including 11/10/18. Also recalled is Wegmans Placek Coffee Cake in 11 ounce packages. The UPC number for that coffeecake is 77890 41407 and the use by dates are up to and including 11/9/18. Finally, Wegmans Placek Coffee Cake in 22 ounce packages is recalled. That product has the UPC number 77890 39002 and the use by dates are up to and including 11/9/18.

If you bought any of these three coffeecake products and cannot eat or drink milk for whatever reason, do not eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund.

The early symptoms of a food allergy reaction can include tingling of the mouth, lips, and tongue, an itchy feeing in the tongue, lips, and mouth, nasal congestion, and hives and itching. In severe cases, symptoms may include swelling of the lips, face, tongue, and throat and other parts of the body, abdominal pain, trouble breathing, and dizziness and lightheadedness. If you have experienced any of these symptoms after eating, you may have a food allergy. Contact your doctor to be diagnosed.
