Fisher Meats Smoked Ham Recalled For Possible Listeria

Fisher Packing Company of Redkey, Indiana is recalling about 744 pounds of Fisher Meats ready-to-eat pork products because they may contain Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue.

  • Vacuum-sealed packages of various weights of “FISHER MEATS CANADIAN BACON” with a freeze by date of 11/25/19 and a lot code of 19239 on the label.

All of these products have the establishment number “74SEIN” printed inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to retail locations in Indiana.

The problem was discovered when the firm told FSIS that a sample was confirmed positive for Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. FSIS is concerned that some of this product may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Please check your fridge and freezer to see if you have any of these products. If you do, throw them away or take them back to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.

Clean out your fridge or freezer with a mild bleach solution after you discard these products. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after cleaning and after touching these products.

Symptoms of listeriosis can include high fever, severe headache, muscle aches, stiff neck, and diarrhea. In pregnant women, this infection can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery, and life-threatening infection in the newborn. If you ate these products and get sick, see your doctor.
