Insanitary conditions were uncovered during a routine inspection. Ready-to-eat products tested positive for Salmonella contamination. More inspections found unsafe food handling practices that could “pose a public health risk,” according to the notice posted by DATCP.

Outpost Natural Foods is cooperating with public health and food safety officials and is working to correct operational procedures. Meanwhile, some of the company’s products have been recalled for possible Salmonella contamination.

Some products made at the company’s central production facility, which is located at the same address but separate from the Bay View store, are being recalled. The ready-to-eat products are: cold salads, pizzas, wraps, ready-to-heat products such as burritos, pot pies, savory turnovers, and select hot bar items and Outpost labeled bakery items.

There have been no reports of illness to date. Any of the recalled products that have been purchased at Outpost since August 19, 2019 should be thrown away or returned for a refund or credit. The recall does not affect food produced at individual store locations.

You can see the long list of recalled products at the Outpost web site. Some of the recalled products are Banana Flax Tea Bread, Sausage Pizza, Cheesy Potato Soup, Lemon Shortbread, Marble Cheesecake Brownies, Carrot Cake, Perfect Chocolate Cupcakes, Apple Cherry Crumble Pie, Green Rice, Pinto Beans, Chicken Tenders, Moo Goo Gai Pan, Sweet & Sour Tofu, Chicken with Salsa Burritos, Chicken Pot Pie, Vegetable Turnovers, Florentine Burgers, Broccoli Zucchini Quiche, Guacamole, Double Baked Potatoes, Marinated Salmon, Broccoli Craisin Salad, Caesar salad, Italian Ham & Swiss Sandwiches, and Chicken Caesar Wraps, among others.
