Stino Da Napoli Recalls Products For Lack of Inspection

Stino Da Napoli, of Rocky River, Ohio, is recalling about 11,392 pounds of various meat products that were produced, packed, and distributed without the benefit of federal inspection. This lack of inspection could be hazardous to human health. No confirmed reports of illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported to the company or to public health officials to date.

These ready-to-eat meat products and meat sauce items were made from November 30, 2017 through December 20, 2018. The recalled items are:

  • 24- ounce (1.5-pound) jarred pasta sauce containing “Stino Da Napoli Gourmet Meat Sauce Bolognese” with lot code 181284000013.
  • 24-ounce (1.5 pound) jarred pasta sauce containing “Stino Da Napoli Gourmet Pasta Sauce with Bacon Fumo Del Vesuvio” with lot code 181284000303.
  • 1.3-pound packages containing “Stino’s GOURMET ITALIAN FOODS MEATBALLS” with lot code 181284000167.
  • 1.2-pound packages containing “Stino’s GOURMET ITALIAN FOODS MEAT LASAGNA” with lot code 181284000150.

Some of the products have the establishment number “EST. 45779” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The meatball and lasagna products do not have the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail stores in Ohio. You can see pictures of the product labels at the USDA web site.

The problem was discovered on January 15, 2019 when an FSIS investigator went to a farmer’s market in Solon, Ohio and saw these products offered for sale.

FSIS is concerned that some of these products could be frozen in consumers’ freezers; Check your freezer carefully. If you did buy any of these products, don’t eat them, even if you plan to reheat them first. Throw them away in a secure garbage can. You could also take them back to the store where you  bought them for a full refund.
