Natural Balance Ultra Premium Chicken & Liver Pate Cat Food Recalled

The J.M. SMucker Company is recalling one lot of Natural Balance Ultra Premium Chicken & Liver Pate cat food because it has elevated levels of choline chloride, which can cause serious adverse health effects in cats. There have been reports of illness in cats that have been reported to the company.

Excess levels of choline chloride can cause nausea with excessive salivation, constricted pupils and poor vision, diarrhea or vomiting, and more serious symptoms including difficulty walking, muscle shaking, tremors, irregular heartbeat, difficulty breathing, possible cardiac or respiratory failure and, in extreme situations, death in cats. If your cat has been experiencing any of these symptoms, see your vet as soon as possible.

The recalled product is Natural Balance Ultra Premium Chicken & Liver Pate Formula canned cat food, packaged in 5.5 ounce cans. The UPC number on the product is 2363353227, the lot code is 9217803, and the best if used by date is 08 04 2021. The UPC number, lot code, and best if used by dates are printed on the bottom of each can of cat food.

The Natural Balance Ultra Premium Chicken & Liver Pate cat food is most commonly sold in specialty pet retail stores and online throughout the United Sates and Canada. No other Natural Balance products are affected by this recall.

If you bought this product, stop feeding it to your cat immediately. Either throw it away in a sealed container in a secure garbage can with a tight lid, or take it back to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
