Evergreen Fresh Broccoli Sprouts have been recalled for Salmonella Bovismorbifican contamination. There is an outbreak linked to this product that has sickened at least 22 people in four states.
The case count by state is: Idaho (1), Montana (4), Utah (1), and Washington (16). Two people have been hospitalized. The patient age range is from 2 to 87 years, and illness onset dates range from July 7, 2026 to August 26, 2026.
The recalled product was sold in the states of Idaho, Montana, and Washington, and could have been distributed further to other states. The FDA is investigating.
The recalled item is Evergreen Fresh Broccoli Sprouts that are packaged in clear plastic 4 ounce Zip lock bags. The UPC number that is stamped on the product label is 8 38796 00105 1. The sprouts have the use by dates of 9/07/26, 9/09/26, 9/11/26, 9/14/26, and 9/16/26.
The sprouts with the use by date 9/16/26 tested positive for Salmonella by a third party lab. The company stopped the distribution and production of these sprouts as of September 4, 2026.
If you bought these sprouts, do not eat them. You can throw them away in a secure garbage can with a tight fitting lid after first wrapping or double bagging them so other people can’t see them, or you can take them back to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.
If you ate these sprouts, monitor your health for the symptoms of Salmonella food poisoning for the next week. If you do get sick, see your doctor.
