Everything Sprouts recalls alfalfa sprouts and products made with those sprouts for Salmonella and E. coli contamination. There is a Salmonella and E. coli outbreak linked to these sprouts, according to the CDC, that has sickened at least 55 people in 15 states.
The company states that, “During this outbreak we have tested our products daily and have not received any positive lab results.” The issue with that statement is that the contaminated sprouts were most likely already sold and consumed by the time the company started testing them, since illness onset dates range from May 31, 2026 to August 8, 2026, and the outbreak was announced by the Minnesota Department of Health on August 20, 2026.
The Everything Sprouts and Calco branded Alfalfa Sprouts are packaged in individual 5 ounce plastic containers with the following bar codes: 860014523113, 860014523120, and 850079470149. The Alfalfa Sprout products subject to this recall include Alfalfa sprouts in 6 five ounce containers, and Alfalfa sprouts in 12 or 6 five ounce packages packages with the following lot numbers: 222, 223, 225, 226, and 230. These same Alfalfa sprouts were also used in Everything Sprouts Crunchy Protein Sprout Mix packaged in 5 ounce cups with lot numbers 222, 223, 226, and 230, and the Zesty Garlic Mix cups with lot numbers 222, 223, 225, 226, and 230.
If you purchased these sprouts, do not eat them, serve them, or sell them to others. You can throw them away in a secure trash can after first double bagging them so others can’t see them, or you can take them back to the store where you bought them, or arrange for a return with your distributor, for a full refund.
If you ate these recalled sprouts or fed them to anyone in your family, monitor your health and their health for the symptoms of Salmonella or E. coli food poisoning or hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) for the next one to two weeks. If anyone does get sick, see your doctor.
