The USDA has issued a health alert for Betterballen Foods meat and poultry products for two undeclared allergens. A recall was not requested because these items are no longer available for purchase. The products contain sesame, one of the nine major food allergens, that is not declared on the label as required. And the beef product contains Worcestershire sauce that is made with anchovy (fish), another allergen, that is not on the label. Anyone who is allergic to those ingredients could have a serious reaction if they eat these foods. No reports of allergic reactions have been received to date. The recalling firm is Betterballen Foods of Chicago, Illinois.

These frozen, not ready to eat products were produced on October 15, October 17, and October 27, 2026. The items include:
Clear vacuum-packed packages of 6-piece “Bami Rolls” with “BEST BY” October 2027 and lot codes BR-2026-01 and BR-2026-02.
Clear vacuum-packed packages of 10-piece “Saté Kroketten” with “BEST BY” October 2027 and lot code SK-1026-01.
Clear vacuum-packed packages of 12-piece “Bitterballen” with “BEST BY” October 2027 and lot code BB-1026-01.
These items have the establishment number EST M3177 or EST P3177 stamped inside the mark of inspection. They were sold by Lowlands House for Internet sales nationwide. They may also have been sold at a festival and farmers market in Greer, South Carolina.
The problem was discovered and the recall was triggered during a routine FSIS label review. You can see more pictures of the recalled products at the USDA web site.
If you bought these items, do not eat them if you are allergic to soy and/or fish. You can throw them away in a secure trash can after first double bagging them so other people can’t see them, or you can take them back to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.
